What are henna and jagua?
Henna
Henna is an ancient, traditional art form that can be traced back centuries to the Middle East and Northern Africa. Traditionally used for celebrations and significant life transitions, it serves as a medium of connection and a way to tell the intimate stories of those who wear it. My henna is a natural medium derived from the dried and crushed leaves of the Lawsonia inermis plant, producing a beautiful, rich reddish-brown, earthy tone that deepens based on your skin's unique chemistry. With proper care, the deep, long-lasting color can last up to two weeks.
Jagua
While henna is leaf-based, Jagua comes from the extract of the Genipa Americana fruit (a member of the berry family), which is mixed with organic xanthan gum as a thickening agent and lavender essential oils for a soothing scent. It produces a stunning blue-black stain that closely mimics the appearance of a permanent tattoo and typically lasts between 10 to 14 days.
To ensure the highest quality for my clients, I proudly source all of my fresh, natural materials from a dedicated professional henna artist based in San Diego.
